Shelia S. Price, DDS, EdD, is the Associate Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Access to Care and Professor of Diagnostic Sciences at the WVU School of Dentistry. Dr. Price currently manages and facilitates the School’s dental admissions, recruitment and multicultural programs. Prior to administering these programs, she also directed dental student affairs and academic support programs. While serving in that capacity, she implemented several signature programs, including the annual Professionalism Assembly, Clinic Induction Ceremony, and Scholarship Recognition Program. Dr. Price seeks to inspire and empower individuals to achieve their dental education and career goals. Throughout her career in dental education, she has mentored countless students in fulfilling their dental education pursuits. A segment of her academic research has focused on women in dentistry and recruitment and retention of under-represented students. 
Dr. Price is a former fellow in the Executive Leadership for Academic Medicine Program (2001-2002) and Pew National Dental Education Leadership Program (1991). She is a former member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Minority Affairs Advisory Committee and chair of the ADEA Minority Recruitment and Retention Conference Planning Committee. Additionally, in 1993-1996, she represented WVU on the American Dental Education Association Council of Faculties. For over a decade, she has served as WVU’s Women’s Liaison Officer and Minority Affairs Officer to the ADEA. She is also a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, member of the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors, and WVU Faculty Senate. 
Dr. Price is chairperson of the Northeast Regional Recruitment Collaborative (NERRC), comprised of six dental schools in the Northeast region. This activity is an extension of her role as Director of the Dental Pipeline program at WVU—a national initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She is an architect of summer enrichment and dental career exploration programs at WVU. She has presented and consulted nationally on dental student mentoring, academic enrichment programs, and oral health access initiatives.     
Dr. Price’s accomplishments earned her the National Dental Association Recognition Award in 1997, the Boone County Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association Outstanding Achievement Award in 2002, and WVU Women in Science and Health Excellence Award in 2007. 
Dr Price earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Charleston. She is a three-time graduate of West Virginia University holding a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1986), MA in Higher Education Administration (1989), and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (1996). She and her husband, Dan, are parents of two teenage sons.
